The effects of Americanization and neo-liberal expansion have steadily dwindled the Norwegian national identity. It is not until recently that the state has pushed for a revival of patriotism online, in the disguise of TikTok dances, iconography and most importantly, nostalgia. Framfortid (part 1) and Ut av Naturen are parts of a larger worldbuilding that critiques this current culture war - set in an uncanny Norway that is difficult to identify. Retromania reigns here as currency is given to any object of old, regardless of its practicality or quality. Most notable is the language, rendered obscure, anglicized and internet slang-like. Thus, alienating the citizen from their own culture.
