ont[o] press
about
Ont[o] press gets its name from the philosophical discourse of ontology—the study of concepts that directly relate to being, such as becoming, existence, reality, as well as the basic categories of being and their relations. A part of the major branch of philosophy known as metaphysics, ontology examines questions concerning what entities exist or may be said to exist.
Ont[o] aims to publish one single-author book per year, alongside the annual foreign / object[s]. We seek to foster and facilitate new forms that explore new thinking on existence in its myriad forms and processes.
Ont[o] seeks
- writing that:
straddles lines between genres, experimenting with hybridity
pushes boundaries
sits somewhere between writing and research as practice
- voices that:
examine interstices of the kyriarchy
otherwise go unheard, whether due to their relative newness to the form, their intersecting identities, or socio-political conditions
