Life Between Worlds
Artist Statement
When I was 16, I went to college. My first professor exclaimed, "You are the most cynical teenager I've ever met! Your goal is to become more optimistic as you get older. Most people are the reverse. Don't be like them."
I outwardly rolled my eyes, but something inside took those words to heart.
These photos reflect many years of flying. Through the act of making these images, I found myself capturing moments...in places that most people find stressful at best.
Over 25 years later, I can say that airports and airplanes played a significant role in fulfilling my professor's request.
My hope is that when you view these photos and their captions, you'll shift your perspective of airports and flying. If I can find beauty and serenity in a hectic, stressful space -- anything is possible for me...and you.
