Outer Space
Outer Space
No theatre, no stage, no seats, no tickets, no walls. We will seduce our audiences with intimate glimpses into our work. Dance? Performance art? Poetry? Theatre? Comedy? we do not search to define but to bring something unseen, linked with a chosen space in the city.
Outer Space is an ongoing project for a series of pieces to take place outside, in and around the city of Edinburgh.
Our aim is not money but change and the sharing of experience. Held in public spaces to expose new audiences to our ideas, inspire and encourage people to contemplate the body as a place of simultaneous freedom and tension, we want to create intense, imaginative forays into the city’s dark sides, encouraging change and audience-reaction.
We will inform our audience on the day using social media, email and texts but we also aim for the performances to be stumbled across. Twenty minute performances will be held after dark and occur on a regular basis. The audience will be invited to light the performance by bringing torches, mobiles, bike lights (etc) and every performance will be filmed to create another forum from which to deliver our work.
The project will be managed on a piece-by-piece basis, each new work building on the last. The works are durational in that they only exist once in a specific and time and place. They cannot be recreated. Their beauty is fleeting but tangible and will remain inscribed in the city’s life for those that behold them
