I designed this logotype for the Frankfurt based Lo-fi music artist Ernst Habros.
He told me that the origin of his moniker is not clearly identified. "Ernst" might have been derived from the fact, that it should built the absolute opposite to his side project "Hugomontene-gro". One thing was for certain: seriousness should have been embedded in the new moniker and the german word "Ernst" stands for it. "Habros" probably might be inspired by the eponymous toy manufacturer.
The German name "Ernst" means "gravity".
So I made the letter "E" in Ernst Habros appear to pop up like an evil Jack-in-The-Box. It relates to the certain sense of humour the man behind the music has and therefore formes a counterpart to the dark life-affirm-ing atmosphere of his music. ;)
If you take a closer look, you'll might recognize two eyes shaped of the shadow in the letter "E", as well as a smiling mouth, which builts the jumping spring of the letter "H". Or maybe you will only recognize an "EH"?
