She studied Experimental Film, Fine Arts and Media at the University of Arts in Berlin and Hamburg. She was part of the class of Hito Steyerl and in the Master Class of Heinz Emigholz. But actually some years before she got her general qualification for university entrance from kanak attak hamburg.

Yara Haskiel, born 1982 is an video artist. She is experimenting with video essays and multi-screen installations. In her videos she deals with memory and mourning, love and precarity.

In 2015 she was part of the Independent Studies Program (PEI) at the Museum for Contemporary Art (MACBA) in Barcelona. There she wrote her master thesis on the topic of feminist strategies of autobiographical and experimental flmmaking.

In collaboration with Janine Jembere she has realized several video workshops and performative pieces together with the akademie der autodidakten at the Post-Migrant-Theatre BALLHAUS NAUNYNSTR, Berlin-Kreuzberg. Recently she realized there Kotti is Burning, Kiezmonatsschau in collaboration with Angelika Levi in February 2017. She works and lives in-between desires, affections and sometimes at places that generate un-translater abbilities and melancholic dreams.
